TUESDAY, April 20, 4:46 p.m. — Police responded to a report of grand larceny at the College-in-the-Woods Dining Hall when a 45-year-old female employee reported that an unknown suspect had used an ID card that belonged to another student, said Investigator Dennis P. Bush of Binghamton’s New York State University Police. The employee said that the card belonged to a 19-year-old male student who had reported his card missing several days earlier. Officers confirmed that it was the student’s missing ID card that had been used, and advised the said student to file a police report and request reimbursement. Police currently have no suspects.
TUESDAY, April 20, 5:24 p.m. — While driving on the East Access Road behind Newing College, patrol spotted a red 1991 Ford Ranger parked on the side of the road, Bush said. The license plate linked the car to a 54-year-old male driver who had previous offenses and was banned from campus. When the driver tried to pull away, patrol initiated a traffic stop. When police asked him if he was aware that he was barred from campus, he stated that he was, but thought that driving through campus to get to somewhere else was not in violation. Police ticketed him for trespassing and issued him an appearance ticket for Vestal Town Court.
TUESDAY, April 20, 11:04 p.m. — Two 19-year-old male roommates living in Dickinson Community’s Johnson Hall had their room searched by patrol when they received reports of a marijuana odor emanating from their door, Bush said. Both students were identified and cooperated as officers asked them to hand over illicit materials; the students handed over two herbal tea bags filled with marijuana. The first roommate agreed to a search of his side of the room, where nothing was discovered, but the second roommate did not agree to the search. Officers spotted a Sodexo napkin holder on the second student’s desk, as well as a BU-property mannequin dressed in the student’s blue Under Armor and a Gerber Multi-tool, which has a blade attachment, also on his desk. Patrol asked where he had found the mannequin, and the student claimed to have discovered it in a dumpster, admitting that he did not have permission to take it. The multi-tool was confiscated and no arrests were made.
