Coming off its fifth straight loss, the Binghamton women’s lacrosse team will try to end its season on a positive note when it hosts UMBC tomorrow at 4 p.m. In honor of Senior Day, Lauren Wetherell will be honored before the game.

UMBC currently is in a three-way tie for first place in the America East Conference with national powerhouses Boston and New Hampshire.
The Bearcats (4-12, 0-5 AE) have lost both of their previous meetings against the Retrievers (9-7, 4-1 AE), losing 16-7 last season and 18-6 in 2004.
“We need to play within ourselves and try to move the balls quicker on the offensive attack,” said junior midfielder Danielle Edwards, who leads the team with 20 goals.
Even though the Retrievers’ overall record is barely over .500, they have played a tough non-conference schedule thus far. Three of their losses have come to No. 14 Loyola, No.11 William & Mary and No. 7 Johns Hopkins. Their biggest victory of the season was against America East rival Boston.
The Retrievers are led by sophomore attack Ali Levendusky and senior midfielder Kelly Fiorani, who lead their team with 48 and 46 points, respectively.
Binghamton will look to come out firing on Saturday, as the Bearcats are a perfect 4-0 when they outshoot their opponent.
“They are a fast and aggressive team,” said head coach Emily Edmonston. “We need to possess the ball to try to slow down those fast breaks as best as we can.”
