Bearcats look to help out charity by writing letters

Binghamton University athletes will come together at 6 p.m. this Sunday in the Events Center for the fifth annual letter-writing party to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

During the program students will write letters to family and friends on behalf of St. Jude, giving recipients the opportunity to donate to the organization. The student who collects the most donations will receive an iPod Touch or a gift certificate for either Texas Roadhouse, the White Rose Day Spa or Cyber Cafe West.

The event is part of the Up ‘til Dawn campaign, a student-run organization that raises funds and awareness for pediatric cancer patients at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Last year’s program raised more than $38,000 for the hospital.

Students who want to help out should contact Christian Walker at (585) 427-7007, or visit the foundation’s Web site at stjude.org.
