The Binghamton University men’s soccer team looks to see if it can remain undefeated in America East Conference play as the Bearcats travel to Stony Brook.

Binghamton has compiled a 6-4-1 overall record, winning four of its last six matches after a 2-1 overtime win over Albany on Wednesday. Last year the team defeated SBU 1-0 in regular season play, and the Bearcats have a 7-1-1 all-time record against Stony Brook.

The Bearcats are scheduled to face a team that has been having a rough season thus far. The Seawolves have a 1-9-2 overall record which includes a winless conference record (0-2). Most recently, SBU dropped a match to UMBC, 2-0 and prior to that, lost to Boston University 3-0. The team currently ranks fourth in the conference in goals with 1.08 per game. SBU allows, on average, 2.17 goals per game and is ranked last in goals against average with 2.08 a game.

Despite the low statistical rankings, Stony Brook has outshot its opponents 159 to 141 so far this season. The most formidable opponent to watch is SBU’s Leonardo Fernandes, who has tallied a total of three goals and two assists this year. Other notable Seawolves include freshmen Berian Gobeil and Wilber Bonilla, who have tallied three goals apiece.

Last season, the Seawolves finished seventh in the conference while Binghamton finished second. Despite the outlook, the Bearcats will not take any team lightly.

“We take it one game at a time,” said Binghamton head coach Paul Marco. “All of our matches are preparing us for the next match. It’s going to be a real tight year in the conference.”

Kickoff is set for Saturday at 7 p.m. at Stony Brook University.
