The champs are here! The Binghamton volleyball team once again proved why they are the defending America East champions last week when they dominated Albany, sweeping them 3-0, handing the Danes their first conference sweep since 2002. The fan turnout was great and helped to rattle the Albany players — and their coach, who was issued a yellow card during the match. After a road match against Hartford today, the volleyball team returns home Sunday for a big conference matchup with the New Hampshire Wildcats, who, despite struggling thus far this season, were picked fourth in the preseason coaches’ poll. Game time is Sunday at 1 p.m. at the West Gym, so go down and cheer on the defending champs.

Pipe Dream’s Golden Pipe Award: Senior golfer Jeff Wolniewicz led the golf team to its first tournament victory of the season at the Dartmouth Invitational last weekend in Hanover, N.H. Wolniewicz shot 145 for the two-day tournament, placing him in second place in the field of 67. After four tournaments this season, Wolniewicz has averaged a score of 72.5, the lowest on the team.

Voice of the Fans: “Write it down, the Reverend Al Sharpton will be the next great New York Knicks head coach. Well, either him or Al Walker.” — Josh Sager, mechanical engineering major.
