Binghamton University’s women’s tennis team continued in fine form, recording a fourth-straight win against home team Quinnipiac University on Sunday.

The Bearcats (9-2) swept the Bobcats (5-7) in singles matches, and two of three doubles matches.

For Binghamton, Marina Bykovskaya defeated Bobcat Kasey Rosenberger in both of her sets by six games to zero while fellow Bearcat Lauren Bates won both of her sets in first singles with scores of 6-4, 6-4. In second singles Binghamton freshman Jillian Santos won her first set over Adrienne Markison 6-4, and her second 6-3.

Yulia Smirnova kept the Binghamton spirits high as she overcame Natalie Duckor, 6-1, 6-4, while Bykovskaya played the most impressive match of the day in fourth singles, sweeping both of her sets 6-0.

Although unable to shut out their opponents as Marina did, both Yagmur Gone and Danyelle Shapiro were able to defeat their opponents by impressive margins. Gone defeated Nicole Adams, 6-2, 6-1, and Shapiro beat Shawna Sarson, 6-2, 6-2, to clinch the singles sweep for the Bearcats.

In first doubles, Mary Wilson and Adrienne Markison won the Bobcats’ first match of the day; they overcame Santos and Smirnova, 8-1, to save the team from a complete sweep.

Gone and Bykovskaya, however, defeated Adams and Rosenberger 8-4 in second doubles while Bates and Emma Leibowicz capped off the team’s performance with an 8-2 win over Natalie Duckor and Carly Loewenstein.

The Bearcats now have a four-match win streak to take with them to Stony Brook on Saturday. The match is set to start at 10:30 a.m.
