THURSDAY, April 10, 9 a.m. — A 24-year-old male reported that the driver side doors of his gray 2004 Honda Civic had been scratched while parked in Lot E, west of the East Gym, some time between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., said Investigator Dennis P. Bush of Binghamton’s New York State University Police. Police have no suspects, but say the damage looks intentional. Bush said he has received two other reports of possible intentional damage to vehicles parked last week in Lot ZZ south. One incident appeared to have involved a baseball bat. No arrests were made in the ZZ south incidents.

THURSDAY, April 10, 5 p.m. — An 18-year-old male student reported to police that his HP Turion 64 laptop, valued at less than $1,000, was stolen from his room in Dickinson Community’s Digman Hall some time between 5 and 7:30 p.m., Bush said.

The student “claims he usually locks the door, but it doesn’t always latch shut,” Bush said.

The student said he never registered his computer in the Binghamton University network because there were problems with the laptop.

Police have no suspects.

THURSDAY, April 10, 10:01 p.m. — Police received an anonymous call reporting loud noise and a possible fight in a room in Glenwood in Susquehanna Community, Bush said.

Officers responded and knocked on the door. No one answered, but police heard someone inside saying, “Quiet, they might hear.”

Police knocked again. There was no response, but officers heard a cell phone ring and someone saying, “Turn it off, they can hear it.”

Finally, on the lead that there could be a fight inside, officers keyed the door and entered. There was no fight, but the 22-year-old male resident told officers he and a couple of friends had been playing tag inside. The student said he had refused to open the door because he thought friends were pulling a prank on him.

Officers advised the resident to remove the construction paper from his door’s peep hole so he could see who’s outside. Police made no arrests.
