The Binghamton women’s basketball team has played the last three games without its all-conference center Laine Kurpniece, and will once again be without her this weekend against Canisius. Kurpniece has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules, and there appears to be no time table on her return; however, Kurpniece has resumed practicing with the team.

Kurpniece was the team’s leading scorer and rebounder last season and was named second team all-conference. She was chosen by the America East’s coaches this season as a preseason first team all-conference player.

Head coach Rich Conover said that as of now he does not know when Kurpniece will return and that at the moment the decision is not his to make.

Kurpniece had averaged 4.7 points and 5.3 rebounds in three games this season. The Bearcats have started junior center Juta Jahilo at center in Kurpniece’s absence.
