Who needs football? The Bearcats celebrated homecoming weekend in a way that would make Billy Baldwin proud. All three teams that played on campus this weekend (men’s soccer, women’s soccer and volleyball) won crucial conference matches and are picking up steam heading into their respective America East tournaments. The golf team also played in the Binghamton area this weekend, placing second out of 16 at the NBT Bank Classic at Hiawatha Links. Those results should put a smile on any Bearcat (or Colonial) alumni’s face.
Pipe Dream’s Golden Pipe Award: Mascot Baxter the Bearcat takes home this week’s award. Why? Because every BU team came through and made homecoming weekend a success for the school. We could have given the award to men’s soccer forward Peter Sgueglia, or women’s soccer goalie Kristie Bowers, or volleyball middle blocker Megan Hoag, but they have all already taken home Golden Pipes this year. Poor Baxter’s been waiting all year for this, and now he finally gets his chance. Besides, everyone knows how much better BU athletes play when Baxter is watching.
Voice of the Fans: “I want to thank Pipe Dream for making me a millionaire. All I do is bet the opposite of what Mark Macyk says to every week, and now I’m rich.” — Anthony Deliso, junior English major.
