For the fourth time this season, the America East has named Binghamton guard Jordan Reed its Rookie of the Week.

The freshman averaged 17.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in Binghamton’s losses to UMBC and Albany last week, converting four alley-oops against the Retrievers.

Reed, whose imprudent shot selection early on limited his efficiency, still occasionally forces shots, but his offensive maturation has helped him shoot 47.9 percent over his last five games. In three of those contests, though, he has turned the ball over three-plus times, keeping his ORtg in the mid-80s. For some perspective, 26 America East players used in at least 20 percent of their team’s possessions have higher ratings.

Binghamton is set to face Hartford on Wednesday night in a rematch of the conference-opener. The Hawks fended off the Bearcats 71-68 the first time around, as Reed shot 5-of-13 from the floor and 4-of-7 from the line while turning the ball over four times.
