While this semester has been a good start to my senior year, I do have to say senioritis is no joke. I have more work than ever, but I still find myself scrolling, having fun, procrastinating, lollygagging and dillydallying when I should be doing work. I even turned in this article a day late (sorry guys). Between studying for tests, never-ending readings, discussion posts and showing up for extracurriculars, I’m tired! This has me reflecting on postgrad plans — maybe the whole law school thing is a little much (if you’re a law school admissions person, this is a joke).

Here are the career options I’m cooking up for if a real job fails, and I encourage you all to consider these sustainable options.

1. DoorDash Ghost Kitchen/Facebook Marketplace Chef

If you have a kitchen and a phone, what’s stopping you from selling food out of your home? Just follow a recipe, take some pictures of the food and get selling. Don’t be concerned about any silly food laws — what you don’t know can’t hurt you. Everyone wants to meet you in front of your house and pick up a mysterious seafood boil, or order delivery from a “restaurant” they’ve never heard of that pins to an undisclosed location in a residential area.

2. Dropshipper

I think most of us have seen financial advisors on social media talking about how you could be making $150k a month and work like five hours a week by dropshipping, and all you have to do to get started is pay for said advisor’s online course. I don’t know about you guys, but this sounds like a pretty fair trade. You have to invest some money to start making money, right?

3. Food Influencer

Omg, you guys … RUN, don’t walk, to try the new viral trending protein Dubai ube TikTok Shop NeeDoh matcha latte from the Blank Street x Crumbl collab. It’s soooo cute, you guys, and it also tastes sooo good. I’m not gonna describe it with any words other than sooo good, but you’ll just have to trust me. The first 100 people in line get a free Parke mockneck, by the way.

4. Survey Taker

If you’ve ever gone on Google and looked up “easy ways to make money from home,” you may have come across those websites where you can make about 25 cents for each survey you take. If you really lock in on taking those surveys, it could almost be a viable career option. Run a few screens at once for maximum efficiency — you might even come close to making minimum wage!

5. Depop Reseller (Scammer)

No, babe, I don’t think it’s suspicious at all that all of the tops you are selling for $25 have no tags and can be reverse image searched to the same thing on Shein for five dollars. It’s just so vintage and Y2K that the tags haven’t survived on any of your listings.

6. DJ

Everyone is a DJ now, so why not me, too? I like to think I’m pretty good at curating a vibe. All I have to do is get my hands on a DJ board, and you’ll be seeing me at every event.

7. Cutco/Other Multi-level Marketing Worker

When I first got my .edu email, I immediately started getting emails from companies like Cutco Knives, where you can make commission for selling their products. What could possibly go wrong selling overpriced kitchenware exclusively to friends and family? They’ll feel pressured to buy things from you and may be kind of annoyed that you’re taking their money, but a win is a win, right? Get that bread (and slice it with a Cutco knife).

While these seven options may not be the most steady jobs, it’s nice to know that there is so much out there if I decide the nine-to-five life isn’t for me or if lawyers get replaced by AI. For now, I’ll see how far procrastinating takes me, and if it comes down to it, you guys can all feel free to lowball me on Depop.
