1. Tell us a bit about yourself — any clubs, hobbies or major plans for the future?

“I’ve grown up in Binghamton and have lived in Broome County for my whole life. I am a transfer student, and, when I attended SUNY Broome, I was a student senator and then vice president of student affairs. Currently I represent [Off Campus College Council (OC3)] as an [SA] Congress representative. I am also the events coordinator for Liberty in North Korea, as well as a member of the Sigma Alpha Pi Honor Society. My hobbies include games, reading and creative writing. In the future, my hope is to attend law school at [the University at Buffalo] and become a criminal defense attorney.”

2. What is your platform?

“My platform is all about standing up to the administration and Sodexo. I want to ensure that quarantined students are treated well, to vaccinate the student body with the help of Harpur’s Ferry and to reopen campus and bring back U-Fest! Additionally, I would like to remove the ban on third-party catering, protect the freedom of expression and oppose increases to tuition or fees. Students these days are more frustrated with the administration than ever before. Policy changes are often poorly explained and their effects on students have been largely negative. I wish to improve transparency and build trust.”

3. Why did you decide to run for Student Association (SA) President?

“I decided to run for SA President because I, like many other students, was outraged at how the administration has been treating us during this pandemic. The decision to close down the dining halls and other areas on campus made crowding worse. Their refusal to offer housing refunds left students stranded on campus, and the endless building projects have been a poor use of funds for the University. Students keep asking for more social services, and they are ignored. Lastly, I feel as though the homeless student population at [BU] has been neglected in this difficult time.”

4. Why should students vote for you?

“If students want to put their foot down to the administration and Sodexo, I urge them to vote for me. If they want to see the SA take an active role in fighting for student issues, I urge them to vote for me. If they want to see this campus come back to life, bigger and better than before, I urge them to vote for me. I have the experience necessary to deal with the issues that keep reoccurring every year, and, if I am elected, students can finally have an SA that is quick to respond and assertive.”
