SUNDAY, NOV. 6, 11:54 p.m. — Officers responded to a report of a marijuana odor in Dickinson Community’s Whitney Hall, said Investigator Patrick Reilly of Binghamton’s New York State University Police. Patrol knocked on the door of the room from which the smell was originating, and the room’s occupants allowed the officers inside. When the officers asked the suspects if they had any marijuana, one 18-year-old male suspect produced a small baggy of marijuana from a safe. Upon inspecting the safe, the officers found a greater quantity of marijuana as well as money inside, which led the officers to believe that the suspect could have been dealing. The suspect admitted that he was selling marijuana from his room, and stated that he was trying to “start a hedge fund.” The suspect was arrested for unlawful possession and selling of marijuana. He was issued an appearance ticket for the Vestal Town Court.

MONDAY, NOV. 7, 9:14 a.m. — An employee working in Academic A arrived at her office in the morning to find that the drawers of her desk and cabinets had been opened and their contents rifled through and then left strewn about the room, Reilly said. Neither she nor the officers were able to determine if anything had been stolen, but it was apparent that someone had entered her office via a partitioned wall near her office door. There were no witnesses, and police currently have no suspects.

TUESDAY, NOV. 8, 12:11 a.m. — Patrol found several suspects seated outside on the patio of College-in-the-Woods’ Mohawk Hall smoking and noticed a marijuana odor, Reilly said. The group of suspects claimed to be smoking cigarettes, but the officers noticed an 18-year-old male suspect attempting to hide something in his pocket. When the officers asked him to show them the object, the suspect produced a small baggy of marijuana. The officers also found another bag of marijuana on the ground near another suspect, an 18-year-old female, who admitted the bag was hers. Both suspects were arrested and issued appearance tickets for the Vestal Town Court.

THURSDAY, NOV. 10, 2 a.m. — Officers patrolling Lot Y observed numerous blue plastic bags strewn about the lot, Reilly said. Upon investigation, they discovered that the bags were part of an advertisement from a local insurance company that a 40-year-old male suspect had been placing in the windshields of various cars. Police contacted the company to inform them that placing ads in windshields on campus was a violation, and that doing so again could result in civil action.
