Corey Taylor ‘ Baseball

A local product out of Vestal, Taylor has been a consistent contributor and leader for the Bearcats. His conference-best 14 home runs, 66 RBI and .679 slugging percentage in 2010 eventually resulted in America East Player of the Year accolades. Taylor will enter his senior season second on the all-time leaderboard in career RBI with 147 and stolen bases with 36.

Andrea Holmes ‘ Women’s Basketball

Coming off a powerful freshman season in which she made an immediate impact with the Bearcats, Holmes showed no sign of stopping going into her sophomore campaign. In her second year with BU, Holmes poured in 13 points per game to go along with 4.8 assists per game. As the top returnee for head coach Nicole Scholl, Andrea Holmes is definitely someone to watch.

Erik van Ingen ‘ Men’s Track and Field/Cross Country

Van Ingen anchored the AE 2009 men’s cross country champions when he placed first overall in the meet ‘ the first Bearcat to ever win an individual title at the event. To go along with a stellar championship performance, van Ingen qualified for the NCAA championships by placing seventh out of 244 runners in the Northeast Regional and in February he became the first BU athlete to run the mile in under four minutes.

Jake Katz ‘ Golf

As a junior, Katz set a new school record with his average score of 73.6 en route to America Sky tri-Player of the Year honors, and his 3.49 GPA in chemistry helped him attain the America Sky Scholar-Athlete of the Year award. ‘He has separated himself as one of the best golfers to attend BU and he’s on pace to be the best,’ head coach Bernie Herceg said in a BU press release.

Matt Springer ‘ Men’s Lacrosse

This rookie had enough of an impact on head coach Ed Stephenson and his Bearcat lax team to be named the team’s Most Valuable Player. In his freshman campaign, Springer tied or broke five separate offensive records. With three full seasons left to go in a Binghamton uniform, Springer should continue to be a major contributor in coming years.

Beth Moore ‘ Women’s Lacrosse

A consistent leader for the Bearcats, Moore was named captain prior to the start of her junior season. Moore led the team in goals with 39 on the season to go along with 2 assists for 41 points. Team MVP accolades in 2010 should only reflect what Moore will bring in 2011.

Nolan Slesnick ‘ Men’s Swimming and Diving

Finishing up an impressive sophomore season in the pool for head coach Sean Clark, Slesnick left 2010 as the team MVP. Slesnick won 12 events on the season ‘ 11 of those on distance races ‘ to go along with being the Bearcats’ top scorer at the AE championships. Look for growth as the youngster continues to gain experience and maturity at the collegiate level.

Michelle McDonough ‘ Volleyball

As a team co-captain, member of the AE first-team All-Conference, Binghamton University Female Athlete of the Year and an AE All-Tournament team selection, there’s not much left to say about the success of this soon-to-be senior. McDonough guided her squad to a conference championship in ’09 and will fight for another come 2010.

Justin Lister ‘ Wrestling

After one of the most successful seasons of any athlete at BU, Lister, who will be a junior, goes into 2011 with a long list of accomplishments. After producing four wins at an unseeded position in the NCAA championships, Lister advanced to the national semifinals, first for any BU D-1 wrestler. For his efforts this year, he was named an All-American, the second-ever Bearcat to earn the honor.

Amanda Ciccone ‘ Women’s Swimming and Diving

For the second-straight season, Ciccone was awarded the swimming and diving team’s top honor as team MVP. In the AE championships, Ciccone was the lone Bearcat to final in two events. Since arriving at BU as a sophomore, Ciccone has impressed and will continue to through her senior season.
