Diana’s Picks
1. Blazers
First came the boyfriend tee, then the boyfriend jeans and now fall 2009 brings the boyfriend blazer. It’s the easy way to add extra “oomph” to a simple pair of jeans and a plain tank top, or create a sophisticated outfit with a high-waisted skirt.

2. Leather Jackets
A great addition to many designers’ collections this fall is the leather jacket and, for once, it actually makes perfect sense. Leather is a great material to keep us Binghamton kids warm in the coming months, not to mention that there are many chic, new leather designs.

3. The ’80s
Who doesn’t want to party like it’s 1985? That’s right, the ’80s are back, baby! Be prepared to see everything from off-the-shoulder tops to high-waisted pants to some extreme shoulder pads. Even textile designers are turning to a more retro feel for their prints and patterns.

4. Neon Colors
What better way to make yourself stand out than with neon colors? First it was just for nail polish, but now neon colors can be found everywhere from skirts to sunglasses. Neon pink especially is one of those mysterious colors that works with all skin tones.

Elena’s Picks
1. Thigh-High Boots
One of my favorite fall trends has always been boots. But this year, the boot trend has grown, both literally and figuratively, from the ankle boot to the thigh-high boot. Not only does the thigh-high cover more and add a little bit of warmth in the chillier months, but it adds a whole other dimension of sex appeal, too.

2. Military/Band Jackets
Paying a silent tribute to the look the King of Pop made famous, the military/band jacket seems to have made a comeback this fall. This masculine look can be dolled up with a dress or by adding different layers underneath and feminine accessories.

3. Plaid
Reveal your inner lumberjack with fitted plaid button-down shirts this fall. Influenced by British countryside styles, most plaids this fall seem to be a bit muted. However, it’s not too hard to find some bright red versions to spice up this country classic.
Featured: Planet Gold Plaid Button Down — Macy’s, $24.99
4. Metallics
What used to be reserved for an evening look, metallic accents have become acceptable for day wear. This fun style allows you to stand out, in a good way. If you’re a little nervous to go to class in a metallic dress or gold lame leggings, try some metallic shoes or a bag.
