If you’re anything like Assistant Release Editor Lauren Roulette or Assistant News Editor Caitlin Sweeny, you’ve been waiting for it for months. Secretly — or not so secretly in the case of these Pipe Dream staffers — counting down the days that Disney would allow you to see Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens dance and sing on the big screen. This past weekend, it finally happened; “High School Musical 3: Senior Year” hit theaters. I just hope this means Lauren and Caitlin will stop playing videos of “Bet On It” and Assistant Sports Editor Bryan Haas can stop quoting Ashley Tisdale. — Chris Harnick
Lauren Roulette, assistant Release editor: I was just excited that it was in theaters.
Caitlin Sweeney, assistant news editor: Yeah, I think that definitely added to how impressive some of the dance moves and hopping about were because it’s such a big screen.
Lauren: I loved the first shot of the film — close up of Zac Efron. Yum. We both gasped.
Caitlin: (laughs) Yes!
Caitlin: What was that line again? “But East High isn’t ready to say goodbye to you …”
Lauren: “You may be ready to say goodbye to East High, but East High isn’t ready to say goodbye to you.”
Caitlin: Best line in the movie. I really, really also liked the prom number.
Lauren: I can’t pick a favorite song. All of them were like crack for my ears.
Caitlin: Yeah, they were all good.
Lauren: And when did Corbin [Bleu] and Zac get so jacked?
Caitlin: I know! It’s crazy to look at them from the first movie and see what they’re like now. I like that Sharpay owned the British girl. They definitely left it open for a fourth one.
Lauren: I know. Good thing — I will need more “HSM” in about a year. OK. I can’t stop listening to the prom song.
Caitlin: I’m listening to “Scream.” I think “Scream” is my favorite. I loved that they had a ridiculous song for Troy to follow up the last movie’s “Bet On It.”
Caitlin: I think it’s a little far-fetched that Troy would be nominated for a scholarship to Juilliard.
Lauren: What happened to Gabriella? Her voice is awesome. So what if she likes to take nude pictures?
Caitlin: (laughs) Yeah, I’m happy they didn’t decide to drop her after the nude pictures. I remember there were rumors that Disney was going to fire her after that.
Lauren: It wouldn’t have been the same. East High wasn’t ready to say goodbye to her.
Caitlin: Definitely not.
Lauren: I have to say — I really like watching the two of them, Zac and Vanessa, on screen together. They have a natural chemistry.
Caitlin: You can definitely see that.
Caitlin: And I loved the use of slow motion, like in the beginning when Troy gets knocked down and you actually hear the “Troooy.”
Lauren: Yes! I remembered that from the trailer. It’s so unrealistic, but amazing.
