SUNDAY, March 9, 1:15 p.m. — Two Sodexho employees saw a male student steal a bottle of orange-pineapple juice from the Hinman Dining Hall, the dining hall’s manager told police. The 21-year-old male apparently took the $1.59 juice from a cooler and drank it all without buying it. The manager confronted the student, who denied drinking the juice. One of the employees retrieved the bottle from the trash. The student was identified through his Binghamton University ID and is known among dining hall staff. Sodexho requested judicial action, Bush said.

SATURDAY, March 8, 10 p.m. — A 21-year-old female student’s $901 Dell laptop went missing from the Old University Union. She had lent it to the Haitian Student Union to play songs for an event. When she returned Sunday at 2 p.m., it was gone. “She asked around,” Bush said, “but nobody knew where it was.”

Police have no suspects.

SUNDAY, March 9, 4 a.m. — Firecrackers had apparently been set off in the third floor hallway of College-in-the-Woods’ Seneca Hall. Officers had responded to a fire alarm there. They found burn marks on the carpet and remnants of firecrackers. Officers also smelled ignited firecrackers.

“You know the smell of firecrackers,” Bush said. “It smells different than cooking. It smells different than marijuana.”

Police have no suspects.
