Contrary to recent rumors, The Sports Bar has not closed due to a lawsuit, loss of business or paralysis of any kind.

According to Paul Liggieri, a senior political science major and former security personnel at Sports Bar, the bar has been closed because there’s currently no manager.

Liggieri, who now works as security personnel at the Rathskeller Pub, said that to his knowledge the bar has had four different managers since fall 2006.

Kathy DeVoe, Sports Bar’s former general manager, said she resigned from her position over the summer and that the bar will remain closed until new management is found.

DeVoe, whose family owns the property, said the bar is normally closed during the summer when school is out and that replacement managers are currently being interviewed.

“We definitely will be opening up as soon as they find my replacement,” DeVoe said.
