One of the biggest pros of a Mac product is its sleekness. Simple, clean and easy to use, Mac products such as the iPhone or iPod touch, to those who use them, are gifts given by Steve Jobs to make their lives easier. But, its second biggest advantage ‘ the App Store ‘ can also be one of its biggest faults.

With over 200,000 apps at your finger tips, it’s easy to get a little app-happy, especially when you first get your new toy. But like the old saying goes, a cluttered iPhone is a cluttered mind ‘ or something like that.

1. Press the X, and be brutal

When you first hit the app store, downloading a bunch of free apps may seem the best way to go, but do you really need PantieScanner Lite or Metal Detector FREE? Didn’t think so. Go through your phone, one page at a time, and get rid of all the stuff you don’t need or haven’t used in over two weeks. Chances are, you won’t miss it if it’s gone, and if you do, it will still be saved in your iTunes if you’ve synced since downloading it, or you can just dowload it again.

2. Utilize pages

Pages are there for a reason; they are not an arbitrary location for your apps to sit and go unnoticed. Put your most used apps (Facebook, Google, Wikipanion) on the home screen, and then put your similar apps in an organized fashion ‘ your social networking sites, news readers, games, etc. This will make finding your stuff so much easier.

3. Combine your e-mails

In today’s digital age, chances are you have more than one e-mail address. Instead of adding B-Mail to your home screen, just go into your e-mail settings and put in all your e-mails and passwords. Having everything in one place just makes life much simpler.

4. Digitize your life

While you don’t want to get too many apps, you do want to get apps that are useful to your everyday life and can replace items that you already have. Calculator (built-in) can replace that bulky TI-83 calculator you’ve had since high school, and Toodledo ($2.99), besides being fun to say, will replace those tiny pieces of paper you’ve been carrying around.

5. Search, don’t scroll

Another way to shorten the time it takes to find the app you want is by utilizing the search feature. Scroll to the left of the home screen to find your apps, photos or old e-mails quickly and effectively.
