FRIDAY, April 16, 10:28 a.m. — Residents from Hinman College’s Smith Hall reported two suspects, a 19-year-old male student and a 32-year-old male non-student, soliciting from within the hall, said Investigator Dennis P. Bush of Binghamton’s New York State University Police. Patrol arrived and identified the suspects present. The non-student was giving out menus for his workplace, and the student was handing out coupons related to his fraternity. Both were advised that soliciting on campus was prohibited except under unique circumstances, and that they would have to stop or they would be arrested. Both suspects complied and no charges or arrests were made.

SATURDAY, April 17, 6:50 p.m. — Patrol received a call from College-in-the-Woods’ Seneca Hall regarding a marijuana complaint in one of the rooms, Bush said. Officers arrived, determined where the odor was coming from and knocked on the door. The suspect, a 19-year-old male student, opened the door and allowed officers’ entry. Upon questioning, he admitted to having rolled a blunt in his room, and cooperated as officers searched his room and confiscated a marijuana grinder and a small amount of marijuana. Shortly thereafter the suspect’s roommate arrived, and admitted to possession as well. No arrests were made, and the case will be referred to the Office of Student Conduct.

SUNDAY, April 18, 4:19 a.m. — A cab driver reported theft of services at the Oneida Hall service drive of CIW when an 18-year-old female and her roommate exited his cab without paying, Bush said. When they arrived at the service drive, the driver was going to let them out without issue when he noticed that one of them had vomited in the backseat. When the driver stated that one of them would have to pay for cleaning, the two ran away into a building. Officers located their dorm and knocked on the door repeatedly, but neither of the suspects answered. The cab driver gave an official statement to police, and the case is pending investigation.
