SATURDAY, Sept. 5, 2:10 a.m. — Officers on patrol noticed a taxi stopped in the middle of the road on the campus’ West Drive, said Investigator Dennis Bush of Binghamton’s New York State University Police. When the police advised the driver to go to the side of the road where it would be safer, the occupants began to exit. Among them was a 21-year-old student, who reportedly became unruly in conduct and language to the officers. He continued to be argumentative and profane, and after numerous warnings was arrested.

SATURDAY, Sept. 5, 3:36 p.m. — A 21-year-old male non-student was reported for disorderly conduct and criminal mischief in Glimmerglass Hall, Bush said. The suspect had been in an altercation with both a male and a female student in one of the apartments. An arrest was made for damage done in the suite. The suspect was uncooperative and was additionally charged with resisting arrest.

MONDAY, Sept. 7, 3:06 a.m. — A 26-year-old taxi cab operator reported a theft of services by an 18-year-old male student on the campus’ East Drive, Bush said. The driver reported that the student was leaving his cab without paying to go to Mohawk Hall in College-in-the-Woods. Police located the student and requested identification, confirming that it was the suspect. Police asked the suspect to come outside to speak with the driver in order to resolve the issue. The student claimed that he had already paid his fare, to which the driver replied that no one paid their fare before entering the taxi. The student paid the fare and no charges were filed.

MONDAY, Sept. 7, 5:44 a.m. — A 40-year-old taxi operator reported that an 18-year-old male student had verbally abused him over a fare dispute upon returning to campus from Front Street, Bush said. While speaking to the officer, the cab operator received a threatening call from the student. Police identified and spoke to the suspect, who admitted that he had threatened the cab driver and also named another previously unknown suspect who had participated as well. This case is pending investigation and the students will be referred to the Office of Student Conduct.

MONDAY, Sept. 7, 4:12 p.m. — Officers on patrol received a call from a member of Residential Life at Rockland Hall reporting a strong smell of marijuana coming from an apartment, Bush said. The officers knocked on the door several times until a 22-year-old male student answered. The officers noted that he appeared to have red, glassy eyes, and though he denied that he had been smoking, police discovered a blunt on his nightstand. When pressed for information, the student produced an envelope containing two grams of marijuana. Prosecution has been declined and the student will be referred to the Office of Student Conduct.
