<p>Binghamton University’s spring show has been announced, and hopefully students will enjoy a night of laughter.</p>
<p>Aziz Ansari will be taking over the West Gym on April 29 as part of his Dangerously Delicious tour.</p>
<p>According to Aaron Cohn, Student Association vice president for programming, the programming board based its decision on how well Ansari did in the student survey. The “Parks and Recreation” star was high on the list of preferred comedy acts. He has also been doing well at other college campuses — Northwestern and Cornell are among the universities that hosted sold-out Ansari shows.</p>
<p>Cohn told Pipe Dream the show will be performed in stand-up format, not in question-and-answer style like the Andy Samberg show was last spring. He hopes the night will be fun and enjoyable for the hardworking students at BU.</p>
<p>“This isn’t going to be like Andy Samberg,” Cohn said. “It’s going to be a true comedy show, stand-up and all.”</p>
<p>About 1,000 tickets will be available for pre-sale on April 6 for $20, cash only in the Old Union Hall near the Mandela Room. Tickets are limited to one per undergraduate, but a student may purchase up to two tickets with valid Binghamton University IDs. The rest of the tickets (about 1,200) will be available to the public and the rest of the University online starting on April 8 at 10 a.m. at www.binghamtonsa.org or by calling the ticket office at (607) 777-6004.</p>
<p>Lauren Coringrato, the programming board’s concert chair, thinks Ansari’s abundance of experience will contribute to the show’s success.</p>
<p>“He has such a diverse comedy background,” Coringrato said. “He’s done so many different shows and has even hosted an award show. I think the students will appreciate how well-rounded his comedy is.”</p>
<p>Ansari is known for his stand-up, but has also starred in some recent films, such as “I Love You, Man” and “Funny People.”</p>
<p>“He’s by far the most popular comedian on college campuses right now. People who see him rave about him,” Cohn said. “Hopefully, he’ll keep the audience laughing the entire time.”</p>
