THURSDAY, Sept. 17, 10 p.m. — A case of petit larceny was reported at the Hinman College’s dining hall by a 25-year-old Sodexo employee, said Dennis P. Bush of Binghamton’s New York State University Police. The employee told patrol that he had left his 2-gigabyte silver iPod nano in his backpack in a locker. Upon returning, the iPod was gone. All other employees consented to a search of their belongings, but the iPod was not found. Police currently have no suspects.

The officer approached the first group, confiscated a glass pipe, and then told them to walk down the path until they reached another group of six students. Upon reaching them, the officer proceeded to confiscate another glass pipe and a small red container containing two grams of marijuana. Eight suspects in total, three 18-year-old male students, a 17-year-old male student, a 21-year-old male student, an 18-year-old female student, a 19-year-old female student, and a 20-year-old female student were reported in a case of unlawful possession of marijuana. Three arrests were made and each of the three arrested were issued court appearance tickets.
FRIDAY, Sept. 18, 9 p.m. — A 19-year-old male student reported repeated harassment at the hands of another 19-year-old male student between Aug. 20 and Sept. 18, Bush said. The victim, who is a resident of College-in-the-Woods’ Mohawk Hall, explained that over the summer, a girl had broken up with the harasser and began dating the victim, prompting the harasser to begin telling his friends that if he or his fraternity members ever saw the victim Downtown, they would attack him. At a later date, a third party copied an instant messaging conversation she had with the suspect in which he stated that if he ever saw the victim, he would “kick his ass.” The officers issued a warning to the suspect and further prosecution has been declined.
SATURDAY, Sept. 19, 12:46 a.m. — Two female students, a 19-year-old and an 18-year-old, both residents of Mountainview College’s Hunter Hall, had their laptops stolen from their suite, Bush said. The two girls had left to go Downtown at approximately midnight, and returned at 3 a.m. that morning and went to sleep. The next morning the students’ laptops, both Dell Inspirons valued at $650 each, were missing. The students admitted to patrol that they had not locked their door before going to sleep that night. Police have no suspects or witnesses.
SUNDAY, Sept. 20, 4:19 a.m. – An 84-year-old male city taxi driver reported a theft of services by a 20-year-old male student early on Sunday morning, Bush said. According to the driver, upon arriving at CIW, the suspect got out of the cab and took off without paying the $11 fare. Police identified the suspect at an information booth where he had shown his ID, and went to his door thereafter. The student claimed that the officers were mistaken, but upon taking him outside the cab operator confirmed that it was indeed the suspect. The suspect agreed to pay the fare, and was then released.
