How is it that the Democrats still try to pretend to be the salt of the earth, blue collar working party? What gave them the right to point at the Republicans and say, “Look at those rich bastards that don’t know what you’re going through. They’re not in touch with the American people, but don’t worry, we are”? No one in Congress understands what the “average American” is going through in these hard times because they live in the top tax bracket.

Joe Biden could not shut up about how he was ranked as the poorest senator in Congress (by OpenSecrets.org) all throughout the campaign. Do you know how much he makes? It’s $300,000 a year! Fuck you, that’s not poor!

No one in the Biden family is missing a mortgage payment or having their car repossessed. Joe Biden wants me to be impressed that he took the train to and from work every day, just like a regular guy! The whole, “Look at me, I may be a senator but I’m still a normal person just like you,” aggravates me to no end because they aren’t typical Americans. No matter how many times you took the train to and from work every day it was always because you wanted to. I, and many other Americans, have to take the bus to class most days because I can’t afford a car. There is a huge difference and my family is still considered to be part of the top five percent of the wealthiest people in the country.

You want to tell me that you know how to fix the economy? Fine, give it your best shot, but don’t tell me that you’re poor or that you’re gonna help fight against the rich assholes in this country who are trying to make money. Know your place before you start pontificating to me about the evils that the wealthy have inflicted upon hard-working Americans. Congress is responsible for wasting billions upon billions of federal dollars for pork and earmarks, and then they want to tell me about fiscal responsibility. Rich people like Sen. Biden hooting and hollering about how people with money are the cause of all our problems is beyond bearable.

When John McCain couldn’t remember the number of houses he owned, the Obama campaign howled derisively. As if owning only one million-dollar house is the average American experience. The Obamas wouldn’t stop reminding me about how they had selflessly passed up lucrative private sector jobs to work in public service. Did you know that Michelle gave up a big fancy lawyer job which undoubtedly had a fat paycheck to work for a big city hospital? Of course you did because she wouldn’t shut up about it. What she forgot to mention was that, according to MSNBC , she earned nearly $300,000 a year, including medical benefits and six weeks paid vacation. Now that’s the kind of self-sacrifice for public service that I could really get used to.

What really makes me the most incensed is when you take a look at the Obamas’ commitment to helping the poor on paper. All this “charitable” public service that the Obamas have committed themselves to really hurt their charitable giving. According to tax returns I retrieved from Taxhistory.org, their most successful year was 2005 where they raked in $1.5 million, making more than twice what George W. Bush was making that year as president. Both the Obamas and George W. Bush, however, gave the same dollar amount to charity. That’s not the real kicker, though. In that same year, Darth Cheney gave 77 percent (that’s not a typo, that’s a double seven) of his income to charity and never said a single word about it to the press for a pat on the back. The following year Bush gave more in charitable donations than the Obamas on a third of the income, but hey, what’s charity when you’ve got an election to run?
