Believe it or not “Lost” fans, there are only three episodes left before the two-hour series finale on Sunday, May 23. Much like the spring semester, the sixth, and final, season of “Lost” is flying by. Fans of the mysterious show are equally as excited and curious as they are frustrated.
As the show’s end rapidly approaches, we are starting to get some answers — the mysterious numbers are for each person on the island and the mysterious whispers are the ghosts of people who have done wrong, as we discovered from Michael in the episode “Everybody Loves Hugo.” Slowly but surely things are coming into place.
With that said, there are still tons of stuff that the writers need to explain.
The whole island seems to be hosting a war between Jacob and the smoke monster that has been going on for hundreds of years.
While this is intriguing, it seems rather disappointing that the characters we have fallen in love with are just meager chess pieces in their little game. It will be interesting to see how the “Lost” writers play this one out, yet it would be rather disappointing to find out the whole show is just based on a game between two people.
The alternate universe seems to be slowly re-connecting all of the Oceanic 815 passengers.
Desmond seems to be playing the role of a “Jacob-like” character who is doing his best to make all of the passengers recall who the others are. Sun recognized John Locke and Libby remembered Hurley. The show has spent a lot of time on the alternate universe this season, so the writers better do a good job showing its importance in the show, or else they will have a lot of angry fans.
The show has a lot to do with only five hours to work with.
And because they have begun to focus more on the universe where Oceanic 815 did not crash, they have been ignoring the universe on the island in some episodes. Ultimately, it is pretty clear that the show’s ending is going to rely heavily on this other universe, making us “Lost” fans uneasy with regard to what’s to come.
Characters are starting to come to realizations, possibly changing their fates for good.
Season 6 has only gotten stronger and stronger since the Richard Alpert-centered episode “Ab Aeterno”, arguably the best episode of the season. Jack seems to be the new Locke, putting all of his faith into the island. It seems like he may become the new Jacob, unless the smoke monster Locke gets his way. Desmond is finally back and he seems to hold the key to the island. Sayid and Claire seem to have finally snapped out of their zombie-like states caused by the smoke monster. It is a telling sign that his spell can be beaten.
Lost has been building toward a pretty epic finish in Season 6, so we can only be patient and wait for the rest of the season to unfold. Questions will be answered and some of our favorite characters may come to their death. One thing is for certain — May 23 will be a historic day for “Lost” fans.
