The Binghamton University men’s tennis team’s season came to an end Saturday in the first round of the NCAA Men’s Tennis Championship at the hands of the host University of Tulsa Golden Hurricane, in Tulsa, Okla.

The Bearcats (13-11) were swept by 11th-seeded Golden Hurricane (22-4), 4-0. Binghamton has made the NCAA Tournament four times in the last six years.

BU freshman Sven Vloedgraven and junior Sebastian Dietz played a tight match against the No. 55 duo Arnau Brugues and Ricardo Soriano at second doubles. Binghamton was down 6-5, but the match ended in favor of Tulsa because it clinched the point with wins at first and third doubles.

Bearcats freshman Arnav Jain pressed opponent Ross Cunningham to a third set at fourth singles, evening the score 2-2 before the match ended early because Tulsa had clinched the doubles point.

BU seniors Faisal Mohamed and Gregoire Berner went up against the 27th-ranked pair in the nation, Andy Connelly and Cunningham, at first doubles and lost 8-2. At first singles, Mohamed also went up against No. 18 Arnau Brugues, a two-time All-American, who secured the first point for the Golden Hurricane with a 6-1, 6-1 victory.

No. 114 Ricardo Soriano defeated Bearcats sophomore Moshe Levy 6-2, 6-4, at third singles. BU senior Alex Dobrin was shutout by Alex Connelly at sixth singles.

Binghamton earned a berth to the tournament with a 4-3 victory over Maryland-Baltimore County in the America East Championship on April 27.

The Bearcats have four seniors: Mohamed, Berner, Dobrin and Jon Bonnet.
