Following a first-place finish at last weekend’s Cornell Invitational, the Binghamton University golf team is set to continue play this Saturday and Sunday at the Big 5 Invitational in Norristown, Penn.

The annual event, which is hosted by Temple University, will feature teams from 22 different schools, including all six Division I schools in the Philadelphia region.

Brown University, Cornell University, George Mason University and Navy are among the schools that will be competing.

Last weekend, senior Mike Surdey and sophomore Paul Andrews led the Bearcats to their third straight Cornell Invitational victory at Robert Trent Jones Golf Course in Ithaca, N.Y.

Surdey and Andrews recorded the best performances of their careers and finished tied for runner-up.

The duo shot an even par score of 214, and Surdey was named America Sky Player of the Week for his performance.

The Bearcats had the second-best opening round in the program’s history at the event, shooting 286 as a team.

BU is set to open play at 8 a.m. tomorrow at Plymouth Country Club.
