The Binghamton University men’s swimming and diving team dropped its season opener to defending conference champion Boston University, 168-132, on Saturday at home.

Senior captain Tim Cabasino led the Bearcats with 27 total points and first-place finishes in the 50 and 100 free and the 100 fly. The event marked Cabasino’s career-first three-win dual meet.

Sophomore Devin Zdanowski recorded two first-place finishes of his own, taking gold in the one-meter and three-meter diving events with scores of 263.02 and 291.90, respectively. Senior Justin Mattison took second in the three-meter event with a score of 247.65.

Freshmen Brian McKenna, Kevin Ling, Andrew Duszynski, Eric Farm and Pat Kilgallen all notched top-three finishes in their collegiate debuts.

The Bearcats are set to return to action this Saturday and Sunday against University of Massachusetts Amherst at Binghamton’s Patricia A. Saunders Aquatic Center. The event is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. on Saturday and resume at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
