Presidential hopeful Sen. Ted Cruz will be coming to Binghamton on Friday. Sean Hannity, of “The Sean Hannity Show,” will be hosting a town hall with Cruz at the Forum Theatre on Washington Street at 11:15 a.m.

Doors open at 10:30 a.m., and tickets are required for entry. Those who cannot get in can hear the town hall on Hannity’s show later in the day.

When Sen. Bernie Sanders announced his Binghamton rally last week, Mayor Rich David said politicians’ visits during election season would help inform local voters.

“Any time a presidential candidate of either party comes to the city of Binghamton or the Southern Tier is very significant and positive because it gives all of the voters an opportunity to hear from the candidates directly,” David said.

Conrad Taylor, a city councilman representing Binghamton’s fourth district and a sophomore majoring in political science, said that the increase in visits from candidates will benefit the Southern Tier.

“Although I might not agree with his policies, I’m very excited to see Ted Cruz come to Binghamton,” Taylor said. “It’s great to see presidential candidates take interest in the people of upstate New York, and at the end of the day, it’s awesome to have them Downtown. It’s great for business.”
