Wednesday, Oct. 26, 1:29 a.m. — Officers were monitoring traffic on West Drive when a vehicle was recorded traveling at approximately 60 mph, said Investigator Patrick Reilly of Binghamton’s New York State University Police. The cops were stationed on West Drive when they noticed the vehicle making a left-hand turn from Parking Lot Q1 onto West Drive. The suspect, a 19-year-old male, was verified by radar to be operating the vehicle about 40 mph above the posted speed limit. The suspect identified as a Broome Community College student but did not have his photo ID on him. The officers ran a background check on his license and discovered that it had been suspended on seven tickets on two different dates in Bronx and New York counties. The suspect was given two traffic tickets: one was for speeding zone and the other was for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree.

Incriminating Incident

Wednesday, Oct. 26, 8:30 a.m. — Officers received a report of a hit-and-run in Parking Lot M2, Reilly said. The victim, a 60-year-old female and employee of the University, reported that the day before an unknown vehicle struck her vehicle. The victim noticed the damage after finishing her day at work on campus. It appeared that the front right-headlight plastic cover had been broken with pieces missing. There was no way to indicate the make or model of the other vehicle. Officers informed the victim that she could pick up a report of a motor vehicle accident at a later date for insurance purposes.

ZZ Tap

Wednesday, Oct. 26, 1:30 p.m. — An officer’s vehicle was struck by another vehicle in Parking Lot ZZ South, Reilly said. A UPD patrol was coming down through Parking Lot ZZ South when he noticed two vehicles, one that was beginning to pull out of a parking spot and one that was pulling up behind it. The driver of the vehicle pulling out of the spot, a 21-year-old-male, was not paying attention to the patrol car. The suspect hit the front end of the patrol car when he was focusing on the car behind him. The damage was only a transfer of some paint and scratches on both bumpers. No tickets were issued.

Accidental Alert

Wednesday, Oct. 26, 1:41 p.m. — UPD received a 911 call from the East Gym women’s locker room, Reilly said. Officers responding to the call observed no emergency in the area. The responders noticed that the 911 phone was broken. It appeared that the earpiece covering to the phone was missing. Scanning the area, the officers did not locate the missing piece. A work order was put in and the front desk was advised of the situation. There are no suspects in the case.
