Motorcycle Mishap

Tuesday, Oct. 18, 5:11 p.m. — Officers returned from an off-campus location and came upon a disabled motorcycle on Old Vestal Road said Investigator Patrick Reilly of Binghamton’s New York State University Police. The responders offered the suspect, a 41-year-old male, assistance for his motorcycle that the suspect reported had mechanical problems. The driver claimed that he wanted to get to the top of the hill to try to push-start his motorcycle. Officers ran a check on the suspect’s license and discovered that it had been suspended for failure to pay a New York driver responsibility assessment. The suspect was then given an aggravated license operation ticket and waited for a family member to come pick him up to take him home.

Turtle Trouble

Tuesday, Oct. 18, 11:48 p.m. — Officers responded to a report that a turtle was stuck and could not get over the curb on the east side of Parking Lot X adjacent to the Susquehanna Community, Reilly said. The responding officers assisted the turtle over the curb and into the grassy area. The victim was personally escorted into safety.

Marketplace Mischief

Wednesday, Oct. 19, 12:35 p.m. — Officers pursued a criminal warrant for a 24-year-old male suspect in the Marketplace, Reilly said. University police were advised that the suspect, a former Sodexo employee, was asked to stay away from Sodexo property. UPD received a report that the suspect was spotted in the Marketplace. The witness informed the responders that he knew that there was warrant for criminal possession of weapons from the Binghamton Police Department (BPD). Officers located the suspect, requested identification and verified that the warrant was still valid. The suspect was brought back to the UPD station where BPD was called to pick him up.

Thursday, Oct. 20, 7:31 a.m. — Officers responded to a larceny report that occurred inside Old Digman Hall of Old Dickinson Community, Reilly said. Maintenance personnel contacted UPD in regard to an unknown person who had removed the gender-neutral bathroom plaques from the ground floor area. The reporters also claimed that the restroom shower plaque was missing from outside of the bathroom on the third floor. There are no witnesses or suspects at the time. The case is still under investigation.
