SATURDAY, OCT. 15, 11:23 a.m. — Patrol was called to the area between Hillside Community’s Rockland Hall and the nearby woods for reports of a vehicle pushed into a creek bed, said Investigator Patrick Reilly of Binghamton’s New York State University Police. The car sustained damage to the front bumper area, and the driver’s side door was found open. There were no witnesses, and police have no suspects.

SATURDAY, OCT. 15, 5:30 p.m. — Sodexo workers from Hinman Dining Hall reported that an 18-year-old male student shoplifted from the dining hall, Reilly said. The Sodexo workers claimed the student took ice cream and ate it without paying for it. When confronted by the manager, the suspect claimed he had already paid for the ice cream. When patrol questioned the suspect, he admitted to stealing the ice cream and was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the station for processing. The suspect was issued an appearance ticket for the Town of Vestal Court.

SATURDAY, OCT. 15, 10:56 p.m. — Patrol responded to a report of a marijuana odor in Dickinson Community’s Rafuse Hall, Reilly said. Officers knocked on the door from which the smell was emanating, and four female suspects answered. Officers saw a green leafy substance and a pipe in plain view on a desk, and all four of the suspects admitted that they had been smoking. About 30 Adderall pills were discovered, also in plain view on the desk, and one of the suspects admitted to not having a prescription for them. She said that she acquired them at home while still in high school. Alcohol was also found in the room, which the officers disposed of. Two of the suspects were referred to the Office of Student Conduct for possession of marijuana and Adderall.

SUNDAY, OCT. 16, 4:11 a.m. — All patrols were dispatched to the Mohawk Hall bus stop when an observer reported a 22-year-old male non-student attacking a cab driver, Reilly said. When officers arrived, the suspect fled into Dickinson Community, and although the officers pursued him, he was not immediately found. However, several minutes later the original reporter called again to state that the suspect was in the Newing College basketball courts. Patrol found the suspect and identified him. The suspect tried to talk his way out of the situation, but officers wrestled him to the ground and brought him to the station for charges of felony assault. The suspect later explained to officers that the dispute had arisen when he had asked the cab driver to take him to Endicott, and the driver in question had thought he meant Newing College’s Endicott Hall rather than the village. The driver sustained multiple injuries to his face and had to be taken to the hospital, while the suspect was taken to Broome County Jail without bail to await his court date in the Town of Vestal Court.
