Lewis Black is coming to Binghamton University. The comedian, actor and author is scheduled to hit the Events Center stage at 8 p.m. on Oct. 27 as part of his “Running on Empty” tour.

Black, star of the 2006 comedy “Accepted” and a regular on “The Daily Show,” will be performing stand-up in lieu of the traditional October concert. It is the first time in several years that a comedian is kicking off the academic year. He’ll precede the annual fall concert, which is soon to be announced.

The Student Association and Morgan Appel, a representative from the Dean of Students office, worked together to book him.

“She [Morgan] approached me this summer to get a big comedian for family weekend and I said, ‘Sure this is awesome, let’s get rolling,’” said Brianna Friia, vice president of programming for the Student Association.

“It’s gonna be great for everybody,” said Garrett Imbrenda, variety chair for the Student Association. “I’m excited we can bring a huge comedian at such an opportune time.”

Black is scheduled for Saturday of family weekend.

“We tried to come up with someone both students and families would be happy with,” Friia said.

Tickets will be available online starting Monday and will cost $10 for students, $20 for non-students and $25 for a floor seat. They will be sold online, and there will not be a presale.
