The Binghamton University Senior Class Council (SCC) has announced a few of the events planned for the rest of the semester, including a campus-wide scavenger hunt.
Students can pick up the list of items to find and the rules for the hunt in the Student Association office Friday, Nov. 20, at 10 a.m. The hunt must be completed by 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21.
Items included on the scavenger hunt list can be found on and off campus. Participants must have evidence to back up their finds, including pictures and actual items. It is important that participants save their pictures to a USB drive.
“The scavenger hunt is a fun way to test your knowledge, how well you really know Binghamton,” said Shireen Husain, council secretary. “This is a great opportunity for us to promote school unity and spirit.”
The winning team will receive a prize worth $400.
Students can enter in teams of two to four people and must pay a fee of $5 per person.
“It is a fun way for students to get engaged and become part of [a] team,” said Raquel Vazquez, president of the SCC.
On Wednesday, the council tabled in the New University Union and sold drink cozies to raise money for the senior class. They are planning to sell senior T-shirts in December.
Last month, the SCC held a “Senior Night” at JT’s tavern on State Street and they are looking into holding a a similar event in December.
The SCC raises money for the senior class and the class gift to the University. They organize events and functions — some are only for seniors, but others include the entire student body.
Emphasizing the goals of the council, Husain said, “we want to make the senior experience better and better our University, it’s not all about money.”
The Council is also led by board members Vice President Hillary Kris, Treasurer Lauren Schiffman and Public Relations Representative Jessica Maslin.
More information on the SSC’s plans for the rest of the semester and further details on the scavenger hunt are included on their Facebook group, Binghamton University Seniors 2010.
