Last Tuesday was the beginning of the end for “Lost,” whose Season 6 two-hour premiere stunned audiences around the globe. So much happened in the two-hour premiere. I had to catch my breath before I could even wrap my mind around the happenings of the episode titled LA X.

The last thing that we saw from “Lost” was Juliet smacking the jughead, followed by a glowing white light. The bomb was supposed to send all of the losties back on the plane so that they never crashed on the island. Well, in one dimension, Jack, Kate, Sawyer and company all got sent back to their rightful place in the future. However, in another dimension the “Lost” producers showed us what happened if the plane never crashed on the mysterious island.

So, now we have alternative realities. If it was any other show, this would be too much for most people to handle. But this is “Lost,” so it isn’t all that surprising, is it? In one world Locke is dead, now controlled by the smoke monster. In another, he is back in his wheelchair. In this alternative universe Charlie is arrested for drugs, Boone is still alive, and Jin and Sun are still having marriage issues. The “Lost” writers seem to be tapping on the topic of fate vs. reality once again, trying to show us that trying to change your destiny may have consequences for some. To me, it looks like their lives were more miserable without the island.

In the alternative universe the island is deep under water. Desmond and Jack’s dead father magically disappears. If anything, this is a hint toward the two realities starting to connect. Ultimately, that has to be what the “Lost” producers have planned. Just how and why they are going to do it is left to be seen. Then again, making predictions and being right about them is a pretty rare feat.

Back on the island in the present time line evil Locke revealed himself to Ben, and gave Richard a beating. The evil Locke transforms into the smoke monster and in seconds kills all four of Jacob’s “bodyguards.” The evil Locke claims to want what John Locke didn’t, “to go home.” Now that Jacob is dead, there is no one to stop him, right? Well, not according to Jacob.

He gives the others at the temple a list that had the names of Jack, Kate, Jin, Hurley and Sayid, who the others claim all need to stay alive or else they are in serious trouble. Sayid ends up dying but mysteriously comes back to live asking, “What happened?” Many of the millions of people watching the “Lost” season premiere probably asked the same question as Sayid. The premiere added a lot more questions, rather than answering the already long list.

I have faith in the show. If you have stayed true to the show this long, you can’t give up now. This show is truly one of a kind. It is smart, creative, and emotionally gripping. It is sad to think that we are coming to the end, but we have a lot of ground to cover until we are completely lost.
