As a college student, there are three things that are unavoidable: alcohol, exams and sex. Unlike alcohol and exams, which are usually predetermined during an average week, sex tends to be a more unpredictable occurrence. While some students want it any way that they can get it, others choose to live vicariously through friends, movie characters, pornography and yes, even books.

Romance novels have made a comeback with the recent popularization of the “Fifty Shades” trilogy. Although these novels may be categorized as “porn for soccer moms,” some of them are actually enjoyable for a wider demographic than just the assumed soccer moms and are worth the read. Warning: these books may make you feel a little hot and bothered.

1. Crossfire series by Sylvia Day

A more developed spin on the “Fifty Shades” trilogy, this series illustrates the emotional roller coaster of a relationship between multi-billionaire Gideon Cross and recent college graduate Eva Tramell. This series includes “Bared to You” and its highly anticipated sequel, “Reflected in You.” “Reflected in You” has also been on the New York Times bestseller list for several weeks. If you’ve read the “Fifty Shades” trilogy and are hungry for more, look no further and pick up a copy of Sylvia Day’s “Bared to You.”

2. “Gabriel’s Inferno” and “Gabriel’s Rapture” by Sylvain Reynard

These books are for the intellectual thinker and hopeless romantic. “Gabriel’s Inferno” and “Gabriel’s Rapture” follow the forbidden romance between professor Emerson and his student, Julia Mitchell.

3. “Beautiful Disaster” by Jamie McGuire

This novel will make you wish that your freshman year of college was as cool as Abby Abernathy’s. This book is a classic good-girl-gone-bad story. The plot of “Beautiful Disaster” is filled with so much sexual tension, it’s almost impossible not to feel it.

4. “Thoughtless” and “Effortless” by S. C. Stephens

This book is unlike any other book on this list. “Thoughtless” and “Effortless” address more than just sexual tension between two characters but also confront the issue of cheating and loyalty. If you’re looking for a book that will make you cry, these two are the books for you.
