For Mike Gordon, Wednesday’s game is more than just his senior night.

It will be his 100th consecutive start in a Bearcats uniform and he will enter the game with 974 career points, just 26 points shy of the 1,000 mark.

“I really don’t look at it too much, I just go out there and keep playing,” said Gordon, who has been modest about his accomplishments and always has a team-first attitude. “I’ll take 999 points and a championship any day. I’ll do whatever it takes to win.”

When Gordon came to Binghamton as a freshman, he didn’t know what to expect. Nothing was guaranteed for Gordon, but that didn’t stop him from making his presence felt from day one.

“I came in and played hard regardless,” Gordon said.

But what is about his game that has made him so successful over four years?

“My intangibles,” he said. “Driving, defense and the little things get me to where I need to be.”

While Gordon has been looked to lately as an offensive threat and is capable of going off for big numbers, he knows it’s not this forte.

While Gordon excels in all aspects of the game, it’s his leadership that is one of those most notable intangibles that will especially come to the fore front in tomorrow night’s emotional and intense game.

“We have to be patient and when the intensity is high, they are going to be flying around and sometimes emotion takes over,” Gordon said. “We have to keep calm and go out there and play as hard we can.”

And Gordon will make sure his team does nothing less.
