Last weekend and this weekend, the theater department is bringing Louisa May Alcott’s famed novel “Little Women” to life on the Binghamton University stage. BU students were led by professor and director Anne Brady over six weeks to bring the show to Watters Theater.

The play chronicles the lives of the March sisters as they evolve from young girls to “little women.” Tempers flare in the household, and sisters Meg (Leanne Mercadante), Jo (Emma Lunderman), Beth (Wendy Abels) and Amy (Allie Henkel) come to rely on each other for support.

Brady said she picked this adaptation of the play for a reason.

“When I searched for adaptations of ‘Little Women,’ I chose this one because it was very lively, moved quickly and had many characters, and many scenes and locations,” Brady said. “My vision for the play was a cinematic one.”

The play will have additional showings March 14 to 16.
