Located at 81 Clinton St., Parlor City Vegan pushes the boundaries of the culinary arts through its inventive and deeply flavorful takes on vegan cuisine.

Upon walking into the space, the decoration was very intentional in curating a rustic and homey atmosphere. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy the company of yourself or gather with others in a welcoming environment. Fairy lights, an abundance of plants and beautiful black-and-white tiles covered the space while gentle sounds of Olivia Dean and Clairo played in the background.

Parlor City Vegan offers three-course lunch and dinner menus for Restaurant Week, priced at $15 per person for lunch and $25 for dinner. We opted to go for the dinner menu, available Friday and Saturday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The menu includes one choice per course, spanning appetizers, mains and dessert.

Faced with an array of creative options, my photographer Emzie and I each settled on our own dishes for every course. For the first course, I ordered the Korean fried broccoli, tossed in gochujang sauce and topped with sesame and a generous scattering of peanuts. While just an appetizer, this is something I would easily order again without hesitation and it had me thinking about how I could recreate these at home. The dish had a satisfying crunch, while the subtle heat of the gochujang complemented each bite and the added touch of peanuts created a nutty richness that grounded the spice.

Emzie opted for the house tofu and chive dumplings, served alongside a soy chili sauce. The dumplings were super light and the sauce offered a perfect pairing with its sharp, spicy contrast that elevated each bite.

For the main course, I chose the K-BBQ lettuce wraps, which arrived beautifully plated on a floral dish, representative of how intentional each decoration in the restaurant was. The wraps were generously filled with vegan bulgogi steak, topped with fermented, thinly sliced onions, carrots and cabbage and finished with a drizzle of sauce that pulled each ingredient together. The vegan meat was juicy, deeply savory and seasoned in a way that made it genuinely difficult to distinguish from its nonvegan counterpart.

Emzie ordered the ramen fried rice, which was presented with a flipped ramen cup resting on top, a small and playful detail. The ramen itself carried a smoky, slightly spicy depth, with tofu, carrots, onions and green onions folded throughout, each component contributing its own layer to the dish.

To close out the meal, I chose the pastry of the day — a candied lemon cake, a moist, syrupy slice with a subtle lemon flavor that never veered into sharpness and a quiet almond note that lingered pleasantly. Emzie’s chia seed pudding was an equally thoughtful finish, topped with fresh strawberries, mint and a hint of cinnamon that created a perfect close to the meal.
