Women’s soccer heads to America East semifinals

The Binghamton University women’s soccer team is headed to the semifinals.

Senior Taylor Kucharski scored only 2:22 into the game as the Bearcats went on to top the University of New Hampshire 1-0 in the America East quarterfinals on Thursday.

A free kick by freshman Connir Gormley was punched away by the Wildcats’ keeper, and Kucharski netted the reflection with a left-footed shot into the lower right corner.

Sophomore keeper Carrie Martin made six saves for the Bearcats. It was her seventh solo shutout of the season.

After winning the final two games of the season, Binghamton needed a loss from Stony Brook University to sneak into the playoffs. The Seawolves fell to University at Albany, and the Bearcats secured the No. 5 seed.

The team will head to top-seeded Boston University tomorrow to take on the Terriers at Nickerson Field. Boston is ranked No. 14 in the country after going undefeated in America East play.

Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
