For the second time this season, Yosef Yacob garnered America East Rookie of the Week honors, the league announced Monday.

Yacob averaged 16 points and three assists in Binghamton’s pair of games last week to follow in the footsteps of fellow freshman guard Marlon Beck II, who received the accolade last Monday.

“It’s just a great honor to win rookie of the week again,” Yacob wrote in a direct message on Twitter. “It makes it even better that it was back to back with Mar. Shows that we have a bright future.”

Through 16 weeks this season, Binghamton freshmen have combined to take the award seven times. UMBC guard Rodney Elliott leads the America East with five Rookie of the Week awards, but Beck (three), Yacob (two) and forwards Nick Madray and Magnus Richards (one apiece) put the Bearcats ahead of any other team.
