Bitter winter bites smokers hardest

Bundled up in North Face jackets, huddled near their dorm with lighters and cigarettes shortly before midnight, the two residents of Delaware Hall glared out into the snow. They stood a few steps from the stoop of the dorm, one of the only places they're allowed to smoke on campus: outside.

Trying to win at Vermont is challenging for any team. The Catamounts are trying for a second-straight trip to the NCAA tournament and they haven't lost a conference game since Feb. 26 of last year.

'Cats suffer road upset and now to face Maine

After BU fell to Hartford last Saturday in the battle for sole possession of second place in the America East Conference, Binghamton's women's basketball head coach, Rich Conover, had to diagnose exactly what went wrong in his first loss in the last seven contests. Supposedly it was an isolated event. "It's not an epidemic," he said after the game.
