    More than four months after Chancellor Nancy Zimpher called for SUNY to review Binghamton University’s athletic department, the results — which point the finger at some of BU’s top officials, past and present — are in.     pic Concerns about the financial sustainability of Off Campus College Transport was front-and-center for the second time in two years at a preliminary meeting Friday. The board of directors and members of the Student Association met to discuss changes in authority and the potential for administration involvement, in the hopes of fixing the company’s structure and avoiding more financial challenges in the future.   • Student band to perform local benefit for Haiti

    pic The Jennys, a band of four Binghamton University students, will perform a benefit concert on Thursday. All proceeds will go to an organization that provides relief for Haiti. The band will ask for at least a $2 donation from all attendees at their 10 p.m. concert at Scoreboard at 86 State St. in Downtown Binghamton. “We are not requiring you to pay, but we are asking for a $2 or more donation,” said Greg Bennett, lead guitarist of the band. “I am hoping people will care enough to give up $2; it is not even the cost of drinks you…

    One new fraternity recently received its charter, and another is in the process of applying for recognition under the Interfraternity Council (IFC) at Binghamton University. Before these changes, there were 15 chartered fraternities, some of whom are unhappy with the addition of new fraternities. Delta Sigma Phi, a newly chartered fraternity, and Alpha Epsilon Pi, a fraternity that is trying to recreate a chapter at BU, are stirring up controversy among current members of BU’s Greek Life by trying to find their place in the Interfraternity Council (IFC).     Bhangra dancers from around the country and from Canada will compete at Binghamton University this weekend in “Bhangra Fever II.” According to Prerna Soni, the president of Binghamton Bhangra, Bhangra is a traditional folk dance from northern India. Binghamton Bhangra was established in 2006 and currently has 18 active dancers and two additional members. Eight teams will vie for $2,300 on Saturday in the Osterhout Concert Theater in the Anderson Center.     pic The Caribbean Student Association (CSA) and Binghamton University administration are set to discuss the future of the Carnival — which was canceled for the fall semester — sometime this semester. A date has not yet been chosen, however. Carnival has been an annual occurrence for more than 30 years at BU, until its cancellation this past May.     The Career Development Center will host its semi-annual Job and Internship Fair on Thursday, where representatives from more than 60 organizations will be available to speak with students about potential opportunities. Binghamton University’s spring Job and Internship Fair, which will be located in the Events Center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., is open to students of all years and majors. Companies, including for-profit, government and non-profit, may be seeking to fill both full time and internship positions.
