    pic The New University Union Food Court has seen many changes throughout the fall 2009 semester, and these updates will continue well into the spring. According to Adam Amit, president of the Student Association, the newest update will be the addition of board game tables in the seating area of the New Union Food Court, which will be brought in around the beginning of March.   • Stabbing suspect pleads not guilty

    The Binghamton University graduate student accused of fatally stabbing a professor on Dec. 4 pleaded not guilty in Broome County Court Thursday, according to reports from the Press & Sun-Bulletin. Abdulsalam Al-Zahrani, a 45-year-old Saudi national, was indicted on one felony count of second-degree murder on Jan. 22, which could lead to a minimum sentence of 15 years to life and a maximum of 25 years to life in jail if convicted.   • SAPB will scale down programs to balance the 2009 deficit

    TUESDAY, Feb. 2, 10:56 p.m. — An 18-year-old male student reported his wallet containing $50, a credit card and a debit card stolen from a cubby in the East Gym, said Investigator Dennis P. Bush of Binghamton’s New York State University Police. The victim left a pair of pants containing the wallet in one of the cubbies and went to work out. When he returned, both items were gone.   • Dance party to unite campus, greek life

    pic A Greek Life Committee was recently formed to promote the fraternities and sororities of Binghamton University by giving back to the local community and hosting events such as tonight’s “Dance Your Heart Out,” which aims to get the entire campus involved. Last summer, Remy Beitscher, a junior member of Pi Lambda Phi fraternity and Student Association President Adam Amit discussed creating a Greek Life Committee. In September, Beitscher started looking for a diverse group of people from greek life to help plan events for the committee.   • Paid single rooms available for spring

    pic At the start of the spring 2009 semester, more than 200 students were living in forced triples. One year later, all of the temporary triples from fall 2009 have already been broken up, and some students are finding themselves living in a single room. Each fall semester, incoming students are placed into temporary triples to ensure that Residential Life is able to find housing for those who wish to live on the Binghamton University campus, and accidental singles are the first places Residential Life looks when they need to break these triples up.   • $1.5 mil Decker Grant funds renovation

    pic The third phase of construction on Health Services is set to begin Feb. 15, marking the halfway point of a four-phase project that began in spring 2007. According to Johann Fiore Conte, director of Health and Counseling Services, this next phase will include adding on new examining rooms and nursing stations, renovating old examination rooms and providing more storage space. Fiore Conte said the project was funded by the Decker Foundation. “In 2007 Health Services, in conjunction with other [University departments], wrote a grant proposal to [the] Dr. G.
