    pic Miladin “Minja” Kovacevic, the former Binghamton University men’s basketball player accused of beating a fellow student into a coma last May, was arrested in Serbia this week. After receiving documents from the United States on Oct. 10, Serbian officials took the 21-year-old into custody on Tuesday in Belgrade on suspicion that he “inflicted life-threatening bodily harm” on Bryan Steinhauer during a beating at The Rathskeller Pub on State Street.     pic Student Association President Matt Landau may be broadening his political endeavors beyond Binghamton University.     The Binghamton University Black Student Union will celebrate Black Solidarity Day this Monday, Nov. 3, with a number of campus-wide events, including live performances and a speech by a guest speaker. The holiday is a day of commemoration for the nation and people of African descent. Every year African-Americans and others throughout the country come together to revisit the struggles of the past and examine the greater possibilities for their future.     pic Binghamton University students and faculty members will work with the Boys and Girls Club of Binghamton at an event Monday to spread awareness for underprivileged youth. The program is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. in Mountainview College’s Appalachian Collegiate Center, room 111, and is open to all staff and students. The Boys and Girls Club of Binghamton is a nonprofit organization that takes pride in offering a “positive place for kids” after school, during the summer and on vacations, according to the organization’s Web site.     The Susquehanna Room will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. for students planning to vote on campus in Tuesday’s presidential election. The New York State Board of Elections Web site listed the Student Union Lobby as the correct place to vote at the time of print.     WEDNESDAY, Oct. 22, 10:59 a.m. — Officers discovered a bong and a grinder in a room while investigating a fire alarm in College-in-the-Woods’ Mohawk Hall, said Investigator Dennis P. Bush of Binghamton’s New York State University Police. The officers confronted the 18-year-old resident of the room, who admitted ownership and produced a pipe and a small bag of residue.
