    Usually the home to events such as “Disney on Ice” and Binghamton Senators ice hockey games, the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena featured quite a different atmosphere last Tuesday night. Enthusiastic fans of all ages quickly spilled into the packed arena, eagerly scrambling to find good seats. As most adults and children opted to sit in the stadium, young teens rushed to the large mosh pit area located in front of the stage.   • Indie-fave Minus the Bear roars in Syracuse

    As it neared 8 p.m. last Tuesday night, eager fans piled into the Westcott Theater located in downtown Syracuse. In typical “indie kid” fashion, most audience members were sporting Chuck Taylors, shaggy hair cuts and facial piercings. Despite its small and shabby outer appearance, the inside of the Westcott featured a massive standing area, confirming why it was one of the only stops on the band’s tour that wasn’t sold out.     Although the Binghamton music scene may not be large, thanks to new bands like The Jennys, the selection of local underground music is widely expanding. The Jennys is made up of lead guitarist Greg Bennett, a senior economics major; bassist Mike Ludwig, a junior in the School of Management; drummer/percussionist Rick Calzi, a senior art major and Mike Linkens, a junior art major who rocks the mic.
