Interim Athletic Director James Norris announced today that he is placing Binghamton University's men's basketball coach Kevin Broadus on a paid leave of absence.
In his statement Norris appointed Assistant Coach Mark Macon to take over Broadus' duties as head coach on an interim basis.
"There have been continuing incidents of concern related to the men's basketball program that do not measure up to the University's high standards," he said in the statement, which was issued Wednesday afternoon through e-mail. "After discussions with President DeFleur and Vice President Van Voorst, earlier today I placed Coach Broadus on paid leave of absence from his head coaching duties until further notice. Additionally, Coach Broadus has assured me of his cooperation with the upcoming athletic program audit being conducted by Judge Kaye."
Norris said that he is looking forward to moving the program in a "positive and successful direction" while working with Macon.
